Biking

We love going for a cycle. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to unwind and stay active. But cycling in your spare time is very different from cycling in a triathlon. The two are worlds apart! And although you may be like us and love cycling, there is a lot to learn before you use your skills in one of the hardest things you will ever do in your life. And we are here to make sure that you are able to use what you know, and expand on that through our professional biking coaching services here at Houston Triathlon Training Company.

Analysis

The first step in any training program is getting to know our client. Which means that we are going to get you to show us how you cycle so we can analyze your form. Your technique will play a big part in how you will be able to get through this part of the race on the day. We need to make sure that your body is correctly aligned. So that you aren’t likely to do any damage to your muscles and in particular your knees. You’ll need them to be strong to get you across the finish line after you’ve successfully completed the biking.

Schedule Setting

Once we have done an analysis of your technique, it’s time for us to set your schedule. We take into consideration your current fitness levels as well as the length of time we have to work with until your triathlon. The sooner the triathlon is, the more intense the schedule will be. So we always recommend that you come to us well in advance so that we can gradually build you up to it. We work with our clients to ensure that the plan will work for them, whilst also knowing how to get you the best results.

Regular Reviews

A training schedule isn’t a set and forget type thing. A body is capable of many different things, including progressing at much faster, and alternatively much slower rates than we are expecting. We make sure that we give our clients regular reviews to ensure that they are on track to reach their goals in time. This will include monitoring your diet, length of time and distance you are able to cover before reaching exhaustion, as well as any tweaks to your technique that can see improvements.

Approachable Coaching

Although we have a brilliant track record of getting our clients to their peak physical condition and prepared for a triathlon, it doesn’t mean we aren’t approachable. If you are finding your schedule too intense, you can speak with us about it. We would much rather have a conversation with you and adjust your schedule, rather than have you just give up. We know that it is going to be hard, and we want to prepare you for that. But listening to your body is also important, as well as being open and honest in communications.
